Robotic fabric acts like a muscle, makes foam blocks wriggle

The guys at Purdue University are developing a robotic fabric that can be used to make “soft” robots out of foam and other lightweight material by using fabric with an embedded flexible polymer that changes shape and rigidity when heated.

It’s an interesting concept that is being researched by many teams in one form or the other…
